What is it?    The Parks & Trails Challenge is  a way of encouraging people to get outside and see all the wonderful opportunities we have here in Kitsap County.  We investigated every resource we could find and came up with a list of 206 parks, trails and places we want to visit.  The challenge is to visit them all in the 366 days of 2020.  Sign up and send in your pictures for a chance to win the $1,000 grand prize!

This started as a personal challenge to myself in 2019 as my son and I embarked on a summer mission to do every hike in the book, Urban Trails: Kitsap.  That whole idea went sideways after I lost my mother in early July.  Then we purchased the franchise for the Kitsap Kids’ Directory and a few months later here we are!  My intention is to learn more about where I live.  I want to see it, smell it, hear it, taste it, feel it,  and fully experience this county that I live in.  My hope is that many people will join me – I look forward to new friendships  🙂

All parks, trails and places are subject to change as ownership and geographic issues arise.  Locations may be added or removed over the course of the 2020 year.

We love community involvement, so to give you all a little motivation – there is one big grand prize at the end of the year ($1,000) and many little ones along the way.  This gives an opportunity for local businesses to participate too!

Our January sponsors are

KITSAP SPORTS and CJ’s EVERGREEN GENERAL STORE

PLACEHOLDER FOR LOCAL ENDORSEMENTS – SEND US YOUR INFO & PICS!

Here’s the fine print and legal stuff:

Photo submissions are valid only for the registered account holder.

All parks, trails and places are subject to change as ownership and geographic issues arise.  Locations may be added or removed over the course of the 2020 year.

Photo submissions must include the location identifier, clear image of registered person, a current copy of Kitsap Kids Directory (this is how we determine the valid date range).

For locations that do not yet have an identifier, we will rely on public input and update the list as soon as a reasonable identifier is verified.  (start posting pictures and keep track of where you go in the mean time).

One $1,000 grand prize is guaranteed by Kitsap Kids’ Directory.  If more than 1 person completes the challenge of visiting every listed park, trail and place, then we will draw 1 winner at random from valid contestants.

Other prizes will be awarded throughout the year for mini-challenges.  Stay tuned to our facebook page for details.
